Discover Drill Dance - Social Dancing Boost Edition

💜 DISCOVER, DRILL, DANCE IS BACK 💜

This time: SOCIAL DANCING BOOST EDITION

This edition will focus on two things:

Friday & Saturday: Boosting your creativity on the social dance floor

Sunday: Teacher Training — Beyond the Repertoire with Julinha

With over 10 years of experience teaching regular classes and more than 8 hours of classes per week while building a community, I have noticed one thing again and again: we do not always need to learn the newest movement.

Very often, what actually helps us become better social dancers is learning how to use, adapt and explore what we already have — and that is exactly what this edition will be about:

• Getting creative and playful with the basics

• Inverting movements — even complex ones — into different directions

• Playing with the positioning between leader and follower

• Exploring movements both on and off axis

• Training precise technique and clean transitions for both leaders and followers

✨ FRIDAY

21:00–22:00

ALL LEVELS: PLAYING WITH THE AXIS with Rogerio & Julinha

We will explore fun one-footed spins and counterbalances that you can actually use in your social dancing — accessible enough to play with immediately, but full of possibilities for more experienced dancers too.

22:00 SOCIAL

✨ SATURDAY

12:30–14:30 (Tanzraum Nippes) ADVANCED INTENSIVE (Level 4+)

INVERSION CRAZINESS with Rogerio & Julinha

Rogerio & Julinha both love taking complex movements apart and understanding exactly what makes them work.

So what better way to challenge your technique AND double your social repertoire than taking movements we already love — Toalhas, Rotisseries, Tilted Turns and more — and inverting them to the other side? 🤯

Expect detailed technique, plenty of brain gymnastics and a lot of “wait… why does this suddenly work?!”

This Intensive is Level 4+.

If you are not currently a ZoukCologne Level 4 dancer, please contact Julinha beforehand for a level assessment.

15:00–17:00 (Tanzraum Nippes) INTERMEDIATE INTENSIVE (Level 2/3)

BOOST YOUR SOCIAL CREATIVITY with Gui & Judith

Gui & Judith are exceptionally good at helping dancers turn familiar basics into something playful, musical and creative.

For this Intensive, you should already know all Level 1 basics.

From there, they will show you how to transform those foundations into yummy social-dance possibilities — changing directions, timing, context and intention without needing increasingly complicated movements.

The goal: becoming a more creative social dancer using material you already have in your body.

20:00–21:00  (Tanzraum Zentrum)

ALL LEVELS GOSTOSINHO VARIATIONS with Gui & Judith

Gostosinho in all its forms, shapes and directions for maximum social-dance fun.

Different entries, different orientations, different possibilities — and yes, hello shadow position. 😏

21:00 (Tanzraum Zentrum) SOCIAL

✨ SUNDAY

14:00–17:00 (Tanzraum Nippes) TEACHER TRAINING with Julinha: Beyond the Repertoire

The tanzraum Teacher Team can join the 3h Teacher Training free of charge. The Advanced Intensive and Socials are not included in this option, please buy these passes separately.

Discover, Drill, Dance was created with one goal: to help you actually bring workshop material into your social dancing.

Instead of collecting endless combinations and forgetting them the next day, we want you to understand the technique, practise it properly, receive individual feedback — and then take it straight onto the dance floor.

💜 DISCOVER

Dive deeper into skills, concepts and techniques in our 2h Intensives.

💜 DRILL

Each Intensive includes 30 minutes of guided practice, giving you time to repeat, explore and receive individual feedback from your teachers.

💜 DANCE

Then we dance through the night, test everything in our socials and simply have fun together.
